MOUNT VERNON, IA - The Principia Panthers Women's Basketball team found themselves the victim of opponents' Covid issues and were idle for 20 days straight. No game in that amount of time led to some rust that needs game time to get worked out.
A strong opponent in 7-3 Cornell College came out firing on all cylinders and jumped to a 19-5 lead at the end of the first quarter. A stronger second quarter for Principia led to a halftime deficit of 30-15. The third quarter was a let down as game speed led to a tired Panther pack. Cornell ended up winning winning 72-39, but it was the first of a two game series this year with the Rams as they will be visiting Elsah on January 1st.
Up Next: The Panthers have a quick turnaround as they host Division II UMSL in an exhibition on Saturday, December 18th for their first home game of the season!
