Fenton, MO - Principia College Men's Soccer traveled to Worldwide Technology Soccer Park to take on the Webster Gorloks on Saturday afternoon.
A Look at the Game
The Panthers struggled to find any rhythm in their loss to the Webster Gorloks on Saturday. The Gorloks got on the front foot early in the first half and forced
Elias Simpson to make some strong saves to keep the Panthers in the game. In the 16
th minute, Webster got on the scoreboard with an outstanding strike from the corner of the 18-yard box, delivered into the top right corner by Aamahn Murvin. 4 minutes later, Murvin struck again for the Gorloks on a breakaway. The halftime score was 2-0 in favor of Webster. Principia put forth a better effort in the second half and shifted some of the momentum in their favor, but Webster capitalized on a chance in the 71
st minute to make the game 3-0, then a minute later the Gorloks found the goal again to make the game 4-0, which is how the game ended. Two quick goals in succession took the wind out of the sails for the Panthers in the first half and second half as Principia struggled to find their foothold in the game. There were some moments of quality from the Principia men. They will look to build on the positives and learn from mistakes as they move into the next phase of the season.
Coach Quote
"Today was a real test for our young team. We got behind early to a very strong Webster side and we found it difficult to generate the opportunities we needed to get back into the game. Despite not being able to find our groove offensively, I'm proud of our guys' work ethic and for battling the whole game."
