Elsah, IL – The Principia College men's swim team welcomed 4 other teams to the 14
th annual Panther Invitational on Saturday. Due to illnesses the team was reduced to only two swimmers – seniors
Thomas Rauschenberger and
Emmett Wainwright. Both swam well for the team and earned the team 85 points to finish in 5
th place at the meet. It was certainly disappointing to not have a full squad for the meet, but we anticipate everyone will be back for our next meet.
Both men swam well and placed in the Top 10 in all their events. Rauschenberger place 7
th in all his events: the 50 Free with a 24.42, the 100 Free with a 54.88 and the 100 Fly with a 1:00.88. Wainwright finished 4
th in all his events: the 100 Back in 1:01.67, the 200 Back in 2:17.77, which was an in-season lifetime best and the 400 IM in 5:05.37. It was a particularly good showing by Wainwright as this was his first meet back in the water after being on an aborad in the fall.
We anticipate we will have a full squad when the team hosts it's final home meet of the season on Saturday, Jan 29 against Illinois College starting at 1pm. It will be senior day so you don't want to show up late and miss that recognition.
