GREENVILLE, IL - Principia Women's Basketball opened up 2022 and conference play with a 86-52 loss to Greenville University. Unfortunately, the new year had already brought two home games canceled due to Covid-19 protocols, and left the Principia Panthers short-handed on Tuesday night as well.
The Greenville Panthers (7-4) are a huge test for Principia even when they are at full strength, but on this night, Greenville simply overwhelmed a depleted Principia squad. Freshman Paige Fowler led all scorers with 16 points and 13 rebounds as she recorded another double-double on the year. Sophomore Alana Hinson added 10 points and 6 rebounds, followed closely by Lydia Klutho with 9 points and 5 rebounds.
"Despite having a short bench, we worked hard the entire game as a group," commented Coach Ro after the game. "Covid is not going away, so we need to cherish each of these moments to actually get to play, learn from them, get better, and keep working as hard as we can."
Up Next: The Panthers are back in action on Saturday at Westminster College in Fulton, MO with tip off at 3:00. Stay tuned to the Principia Athletics website and social media as fan attendance might change with Covid-19 protocols.
