ELSAH, IL – The Principia Volleyball team wrapped up their 2022 season this week with a home match against Eureka on Saturday and a road match at Webster on Tuesday. Even though both matches were 3-0 losses, the team won 22 points in the second set on Saturday – their most points in a set all season.
Saturday was Senior Day to celebrate seniors
Madi Leslie and
Eloise Esseks as both finished their seasons on a high note. Esseks improved her play throughout the fall, while Leslie rejoined the team mid-season due to injury and excelled as the Panthers' leading hitter the last half of the season. Beyond their play on the court, both gained an extensive amount of leadership skills and admiration from the team witnessed by the support and encouragement they offered all season.
Despite the adversity the team faced all season against superior opponents, Coach Davis took away many positives. "I am particularly proud of our ability to focus on developing and enhancing our technique throughout the year," he reflected. "Each and every match, we saw our play improve. Principia is a culture where championships can be built, and as we embark on our next trail for 2023, I anticipate getting stronger as a program in the near future!"
