ST. LOUIS, MO – The Principia Thunder Chickens are moving on after cruising to a 67-7 victory over the University of Northern Iowa on Friday!
The first round match was held in Forest Park on what was a very cold day in the city of St. Louis. With the below freezing temperatures and biting wind, each team took some time to adjust to the conditions as neither side scored over the first ten minutes.
A
Francisco Alessio try broke the ice and finally got the ball rolling as the Thunder Chickens showed off their offensive firepower the rest of the match. In total, Principia would go on to score 11 tries from a wide variety of players. Principia also played great defense against one of the stronger teams they have faced this season, holding them to 13 fewer points than in their first meeting in September.
MiraCosta College defeated Minnesota State Mankato 74-31 in the the other match in Principia's regional bracket, so the Thunder Chickens will take on the MCC Spartans in the quarterfinals on Sunday at 12 pm CT in Forest Park (same field as Friday). The game will be streamed
here. Come cheer on the lads as they try to punch their ticket to Houston for the final four!
