ELSAH, IL - The Principia Baseball team completed their three game season-opening series against Olivet College with a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon. In a day that didn't go the Panthers way, there were a few highlights.
Senior
Jack Adler led the Panthers offense going 2-3 in game one and 3-3 in game two. Adler had a great series at the plate, going 7-10 overall. Freshman
Casey Golbiw picked up two hits, including a double off the wall in game two. Senior
Chris Strong had two hits of his own.
Salvador Flores,
Tim Eissler, and
Ryan D'Amico each tallied a hit. While the Panthers collected 9 hits in game two, they were only able to push two runs across on the day.
Alejandro Zozaya and
Salvador Flores combined efforts in game one with six strikeouts over seven innings.
When asked about the opening series, head coach
Chris Marston said, "The results this weekend weren't what we were looking for, but I saw some glimpses of where we could be. We haven't been able to be on the field more than a handful of times up to this point, so as we get more game like reps in, we will continue to improve."
Up Next: The Panthers will look to regroup as they head to Earlham College for a doubleheader on Wednesday starting at 4 pm EST (3 pm CST).
