ELSAH, IL - The Principia Softball team hosted the Westminster College Blue Jays for their fourth straight home doubleheader onn Saturday. The Panthers faced tough pitching and a strong offense as the Blue Jays dominated both games in five innings.
Kelsie Huss broke up Erin Carr's no hitter in the fourth inning of game one, but Haley Miller managed to complete a no hitter for the Blue Jays in game two. Principia freshmen pitchers,
Avery Cobb and
Victoria Columbus, caught for each other while the other was pitching. Unfortunately, the Panthers were again plagued by many fielding errors in both games. Even though infield and outfield adjustments were made, it was tough to find the right combination. Considering the scoreboard after each inning, the spirit, teamwork, and support the team gave each other throughout the afternoon was remarkable.
Up Next: The Panthers will play their first away doubleheader of the season on Tuesday evening at Fontbonne in St. Louis.
