ELSAH, IL – The Principia Women's Soccer team hosted their final home game of the 2023 season on Tuesday as they fell 2-0 to Westminster College. Before the game, the team held a Senior Night ceremony honoring their two seniors,
Kannon Gill and
Dafne Muniz.
Gill almost scored with her family in attendance as a rocket shot drew an amazing save from the Westminster goalkeeper late in the game.
Rachael Williams also had a couple great chances with a breakaway saved in the first half and a header flash across the face of goal in the second half. Overall the chances were pretty equal, with the Blue Jays finishing with only one more shot on goal than the Panthers (8-7).
The Panthers are on pace to have the fewest goals allowed in the program's past ten years, so the team is focused on their organization and work ethic to maintain that solid defense against two strong teams in their final two games next week. They are also hoping to improve on their attacking chances by converting the chances into goals.
Up Next: Principia will face SLIAC-leading Webster University at the World Wide Technology Soccer Park in St. Louis next Tuesday at 5:00 pm.
