ELSAH, IL – National Collegiate Rugby released their final Top 20 rankings for the 2023 15s season, and Principia finished at #7. Having begun the season unranked as a new Division I team, finishing that high is a great accomplishment in year one.
The Thunder Chickens' season ended in the Division I Quarterfinals in heartbreaking fashion as #4 Indiana scored in the final seconds to complete a comeback 32-26 win. Principia had multiple key injuries pile up by the end of the match which put a strain on their defense trying to hold onto the lead. Despite the close loss, the Thunder Chickens held their heads high knowing they had proven they belonged in Division I by making some noise in their first season. The team is looking forward to building on their success in 2024!
