ELSAH, IL – At the conclusion of the SLIAC Men's Basketball Tournament on Saturday, the conference handed out their 2022-23 season awards, and four Panthers took home honors!
SLIAC First Team All-Conference and 6th Man of the Year – Jaquan Adams
Adams transferred to Principia this past fall and made an instant impact for the Panthers. He turned his game up to another level during SLIAC play, scoring over 19 ppg in those 14 games to lead the conference with 267 points. Adams did all this while coming off the bench, which made him a no-brainer for SLIAC 6th Man of the Year. He also received First Team All-Conference honors as his full season point total was 462 points, good for the Panther lead by 123 points. In addition, Adams led the team with a .574 FG% and was second in rebounds with 184.
SLIAC Second Team All-Conference and All-Tournament Team – Clark Davidson
Davidson averaged a double double in the Panthers' two playoff games to earn All-Tournament honors. He was also voted as Second Team All-Conference for the second straight season after leading the team in rebounds (210), steals (36) and blocks (16), while finishing tied for second in points (339). Davidson finishes his Principia career 11th all-time in points with 1312, and second all-time in rebounds with 776.
SLIAC All-Defensive Team – Shemarri Miles
As Principia's starting point guard, Miles had a great junior season in which he led the Panthers with 95 assists (3.5 apg). However, it was Miles' defense that stood out above the rest this year as he was chosen to the All-Defensive Team. He locked down his opposing point guards and finished tied for the team lead in steals with 36.
SLIAC All-Sportsmanship Team – Nathan Brantingham
This is the second year in a row that Brantingham has been chosen for the All-Sportsmanship team. He always kept a positive energy and was a vocal leader for the Panthers throughout the season. Brantingham also led by example on the court with how he treated his teammates and opponents.
Congrats to Jaquan, Clark, Shemarri, and Nathan!
