WEBSTER GROVES, MO – The Principia Men's Basketball team took on conference rival Webster University on Saturday in St. Louis. The Panthers came into the game with a 1-4 record in the SLIAC, while the Gorloks came in at 2-3. Principia started the game fast by taking a 12-4 lead, but Webster would eventually take control of the game and dominate the Panthers, winning the game 82-42.
Principia came into the game hot, as they took a 12-4 lead on a Shemarri Miles three pointer with 15:42 left in the first half. Webster would slowly claw their way back into the game, eventually taking over the lead 18-17 with 5:50 left in the half. By halftime, Webster's lead had grown to 33-24. After an 'and 1' by Jaquan Adams cut the lead to 8 with 16:25 remaining, Webster would finish the game on a 44-12 run to defeat the Panthers 82-42.
Good to Know: Principia was led by Shemarri Miles and Jaquan Adams as Miles finished with 16 points, and Adams had a double double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Up Next: The Panthers' next game is at home against the Westminster Blue Jays on Thursday at 7:30 pm. Both teams are 1-5 in the SLIAC and will be looking to gain some momentum as the second half of the season begins.
