CRAWFORDSVILLE, IN – The Panthers Men's Tennis team traveled to Wabash College in Indiana this weekend to compete in a tri match with Wabash and Earlham College.
Principia's matchup with Wabash is always a highlight of their season because they always face strong competition from the Little Giants. Despite coming away with an 8-1 loss, the Panthers really pushed their competitors as the matches were not blow outs by any means. Wabash's tennis center was a loud and electric atmosphere during the match due the fierce competition, and the Panthers delivered a lot of heart and grit on the day. Principia's lone win of the match came at #2 doubles with
Nacho Cachaza and
Ernesto Botero playing valiantly to defeat a very strong Wabash pair, 8-5.
The Panthers later cruised to a very comfortable 9-0 victory in the team's second match of the day against Earlham College.
Coach Rusty said afterwards: "The Panthers gain insight with each team loss. Victory is the long term goal as we prepare early in the season for the conference section of our schedule. Each duel is a preparation, win or lose. I was very encouraged by the heart and level of versatility the Panthers displayed this weekend against the toughest competitive test they will face until they meet up with Wash U right before the conference season in April."
