MILWAUKEE, WI – The Principia women's soccer team traveled up to Milwaukee this weekend for their second game of the season as they came away victorious over Mount Mary University by a final score of 2-0.
The Panthers and Blue Angels traded chances throughout the first half with Principia converting two chances into goals. In the 29th minute,
Sarah Smith fired a hard shot over the goalie but right off the cross bar. The rebound bounced right to freshman
Nahomi Vigil, who used a high leg kick to slot home her first collegiate goal. Eight minutes later,
Dachelle Carter ended up on a breakaway and scored her first of the season to give the Panthers a 2-0 advantage.
In the second half, Carter almost scored again on a header off a beautiful free kick by
Zoe Houseman, but the goal was called back due to a foul in the box.
Kiara Smith also had a late goal called back due to a foul as the Panthers kept the offensive pressure on the whole game.
Principia goalkeeper
Christin Walls stood tall in net from start to finish to secure the clean sheet with seven saves. She is off to a strong start to her super senior year with 23 saves on 24 shots thus far.
The Panthers return to campus for their home opener this coming Tuesday when they host UHSP at 6:00 pm.
