ELSAH, IL – The Principia women's basketball team continued their first round of regular season conference matchups on Tuesday when they hosted the Eureka College Red Devils. After a close first half, the Panthers dominated the second half en route to a 39-point win led by an incredible triple-double by senior
Lamiya Terrell.
Principia went up big early as they led by 12 after the first quarter, but faltered a bit in the second quarter as the lead dropped to 8 at halftime. Considering the Red Devils came in winless this season, the Panthers knew they were capable of playing better, and they came out firing after halftime. Principia outscored Eureka 54-23 in the second half to secure a 91-52 victory. The Panthers were especially hot in the fourth quarter as they shot an impressive 62.5% after only shooting a combined 34.4% in the first three quarters.
Lamiya Terrell had a career night with 21 points, 10 rebounds, 11 assists, and 6 steals for her first-ever triple-double.
Hannah Myers had a huge game as well with a career-high 24 points, including 5 three-pointers. Myers also thrived on the defensive end with 4 steals and 2 blocks.
Ariana Williams had her third double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 rebounds plus 2 assists and 3 steals.
Taylor Brown also finished in double digits with 11 points, while
Trinniti Matthews had a well-rounded line of 8 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 blocks and 1 steal.
Elyssa White had a nice defensive game as well with 2 blocks and 2 steals.
Due to the incoming winter weather this weekend, Principia's home game on Saturday vs Spalding has been moved up to Friday at 5:30 PM.
