Freshman (2010)
Ashley Reisen comes to us with extensive club experience from the Northwest. She has a good knowledge of the game, so the transition into college ball should be smooth for her. In high school, she found her niche on the court as a right side with an ability to set a strong block and an ability to run an offense. She has a wicked serve, good blocking technique, and can pass well off of serve receive. According to her high school coach, “Ashley is an incredible teammate. She will do whatever is necessary for the good of the team. She has good court sense, and adds incredible energy to the court when she is in the lineup.”

Prep/ Personal
#1 - When did you start playing volleyball and what level? (Club, Y, middle school)

I started playing club when I was ten years old for Bonney Lake Volleyball Club. I've been playing for various clubs and my school team ever since. 

#2 - What positions have you played and which one is your preference?

Over the last four years I have played RS, OH, S, and MB, basically everything but libero. I don't have a preference as to where on the court I play. By playing any position, I am able to round out my game and am always available for a sub.

#3 - Have you been captain - when and how long?

Not during my high school career, no. 

#4 - Vb awards and honors? (all-league, mvp)

I was awarded the MVP my 8th grade year. 

#5 - Favorite kind of music?

Oh, where do I begin? I will listen to anything... seriously. My iTunes library ranges from to choral music to AC/DC to Lil' Wayne. It all depends on my mood. 

#6 – Favorite Food?

I always have room for a fruit smoothie. 

#7 – Favorite Movie?

Hmm... Atonement, The Breakfast Club, Death at a Funeral. Basically if it gives me a laugh or tugs on my heart strings, I'll like it. 

#8 - If you were an animal, what would you be and why?

I love snow leopards. They're so graceful and majestic. 

#9 - What is your favorite quote?

#10 - What do you think you will be doing and where in 10 years?

I really don't know. Hopefully I'll be settled in with a career. Or traveling. Or working on my master's. I have way too many plans to narrow it down right now. 

#11 - Nickname and reason?

Ash, Ash-Cash, Shlee. Ash and Shlee probably because they're  easy. Ash-Cash is what my friend Hilary calls me... but I don't recall the reasoning behind it. 

#12 - What do you love best about the best sport in the world - VOLLEYBALL?

I love the relationships you build with your teammates and the unity that comes from them. I love the intensity and the desire to succeed and the dedication we share to reach that goal. I think what I love most, though, is how everyone pushes each other to grow, both as a player and a person.
