Fall 2010 Women's Volleyball Roster
Biography
Senior (2010)
Isabelle is a versatile player. Last season she divided her time on the court getting swings as an outside hitter and making rapid strides in her role as a backup setter. Her ability to disrupt the opponent’s defense with her powerful serve is valuable to our team. In the off-season, Isabelle spent most of her time developing as an outside hitter, preparing herself to compete as one of our top hitters. She has successfully added dimensions to her skill set in that position. She is also a captain this year, and was the heart and soul of keeping the team developing in the off-season.
Junior (2009)
Isabelle gets the Most Improved Player for last year in my mind. Her playing time grew and her effectiveness did too. She has a natural competitiveness and it was fun to see it shine. Isabelle worked hard in the off-season to become a more effective hitter, and also helped us as a secondary setter. Adding those skills to her tough serving and bold passing, and I know Issy will be an integral player for us this season.
Sophomore (2008)
Isabelle had a great spring season after one year under her belt, and her competitive maturity in practice shows a complete turnaround from her year as a freshman. She is incredibly valuable in practices when it comes to giving the first team a good challenge and we look forward to the pivotal moment in her game when her skill as a hitter becomes a weapon for our offense. Isabelle is a motivated defender with an exemplary work ethic and her eagerness to cross the net into the core of six gives us confidence that she will soon see her day of game time.
Freshman (2007)
We are excited to have Isabelle as part of the 2007 team. She is a versatile player that has been dedicated to learning and perfecting the defense. Isabelle brings an intense and supportive attitude to the team that will contribute greatly to the success of the season.
Prep/Personal
#1 - When did you start playing volleyball and what level (Club, Y, middle school)
I started playing in 6th grade and I continued to play throughout high school.
#2 - what positions have you played and which one is your preference
The only position I haven't played is libero and I guess middle blocker. I don't really have a preference anymore, I just want to play where the team needs me. I love being able to hit but I love setting hitters up and not much feels better than a great dig!
#3 - have you been captain - when and how long?
I was captain in highschool for 2 years. I am serving as a captain for Principia this season.
#4 - vb awards and honors (all-league, mvp)
In highschool I was 2nd team all league and mvp my junior year and 1st team all league my senior year.
#5 - Favorite kind of music?
I love The Beatles, hands down best band ever!!! and the Beegees are close second. Kitty Can is pretty awesome too (yeah Katie!)
#6 – Favorite Food?
Pancakes, peaches, cherries, raspberries, and barbequed pizza.
#7 – Favorite Movie?
Forest Gump.
#8 - If you were an animal, what would you be and why?
I've been told I would be a koala bear. Last year the team decided what animal everyone on the team would be and that's what I got. All I know is they are cute and they can climb trees so it sounds good to me!
#9 - What is your favorite quote?
Never be bullied into silence. Never allow yourself to be made a victim. Accept no one's definition of your life; define yourself.
Harvey Fierstein
#10 - What do you think you will be doing and where in 10 years?
I think that I will be traveling and doing social work which would probably involve teaching. I also want to write a children's book and by then have a little scallywag of my own.
#11 - Nickname and reason?
Is or Izzy. Just a shorter version of my name, geez, that was a boring answer!
#12 - What do you love best about the best sport in the world - VOLLEYBALL?
I love working as a team and learning how to communicate differently with 10 other girls. I also really appreciate that it is not a contact sport so I don't turn into a crazy person but I still get to pick out the other team's weaknesses and work to exploit them. Was that too mean? Anyways, I love the connection our team has, these girls mean so much to me and it's such a blessing to have so many amazing women to call my teammates and friends.
