Senior (2018)
Sophia is co-captain again this year, and after a semester in New Zealand, the coaches look to see if Sophia is ready to lead the pin hitting pack of Panthers! Sophia is the glue of the team and will make sure everyone is on the same page – working as one, and she will no doubt dedicate herself to proving her 1^st team All Conference offensive effectiveness.

Junior (2017)
Sophia was on the #1 Beach team, and this experience helped Soph build her vision, IQ, and tenacious pursuit of the ball. Soph will see time setting and hitting for the Panthers this season. Sophia is on of our captains this season, and seems to always have a good feel for what the group needs.

Sophomore (2016)
Sophia returns after a year as a 4 sport athlete (volleyball, basketball, beach volleyball and track). That’s a lot of training and competition to help her start her sophomore year out with much added maturity. We will use Sophia as a setter and a hitter this season, and she is looking for greater court time in defense as well. Sophia’s Beach season helped her improve all parts of her game, and we are excited to let her grow in her responsibilities.

Freshman (2015)
Sophia is a standout dual-sport athlete from South Pasadena, California who will play both volleyball and basketball for Principia.  Recently, Sophia earned the Kathryn L. Crary Sportsmanship award at South Pasadena High School.  She earned 12 varsity letters as a captain on all her teams!  Sophia will be a helpful addition to the team right away as a strong hitter.

Fun Facts

1.)  When did you start playing volleyball and why?
I started playing volleyball in seventh grade because I wanted to be involved in a lot of athletics and that was one of the four offered to the seventh graders.

2.)  What do you love most about playing volleyball?
I love the team aspect of volleyball the most. Volleyball only works if you play as a group and communicate each other. This then correlates to having amazing friends off the court and a support system that stretches far beyond the court.
