2019-2020 Women's Basketball Roster
Biography
Senior (2019)
Nikki is a senior point guard. We count on Nikki for her scoring, rebounding, and tough defense. Her passion and knowledge of the game has made Nikki the type of player her teammates respect. Nikki had the highest scoring average this past year in the SLIAC Conference. Her teammates awarded her with the “Hustle Award”. Once again, Nikki was recognized this past year for her academic excellence as a member of the 4.0 Club. She continues to be a three-sport athlete, playing volleyball in the fall and beach volleyball in the spring. Outside of basketball, Nikki is also a Residential Assistant in one of our freshman houses on campus.
Junior (2018)
Nikki Matters will play her first full year on the court for Principia, as she spent last fall on the Principia Abroad Program to Peru. Her shooting, passing and leadership at the point guard position will be key contributors to Panther Basketball. Nikki also plays indoor and beach volleyball at Principia, and was recognized this past year for her academic excellence as a member of the 4.0 Club. She is majoring in Education and Spanish. Her favorite quote is, "You’ve failed many times, although you don`t remember. You fell down the first time you tried to walk. You almost drowned the first time you tried to swim. Did you hit the ball the first time you swung a bat?
Heavy hitters, the ones who hit the most home runs, also strike out a lot.
R.H. Macy failed seven times before his store in New York caught on.
English novelist John Creasey got 753 rejection slips before he published 564 books.
Babe Ruth struck out 1,330 times, but he also hit 714 home runs. Don`t worry about failure. Worry about the chances you miss when you don`t even try."
