Senior (2009)
Anne is one of our captains this season. Anne will be a primary Outside Hitter this year. Anne’s ability to hit the quick ball, hit the slide, as well as bang the high ball shows she is ready to be a big gun for us. Anne worked hard in the spring season and has a renewed sense of purpose as she steps on the court as a senior leader. We look for Anne to stay on the court and be a primary passer for us as well. Her calmness in tough competitive moments makes her indispensable to have on the court. I will depend on the duo of Anne and Hannah Richards to be the on-court coaches this season. They are both brilliant in the game and are able to help the team adjust on the fly.
Junior (2008)
Anne is going to be a major competitive hitter in our lineup this season. Her keen vision for offensive placement distinguishes her as a smart right side hitter and her controlled passing sets a regular pace for us to set up a sweet offensive termination. Anne is a starter for us this year and a key component in our reception line. Her graceful defense is inspiringly accurate and her presence at the net is constant and effective.
Sophomore (2007)
Anne has earned the nick-name slash playing outside hitter, right side hitter, stepping into set as well as being an effective defender. Her calm presence and versatility are the key ingredients that will contribute greatly to the success of the 2007 team.
Prep/Personal
#1 - When did you start playing volleyball and what level (Club, Y, middle school)
In eighth grade I dropped my life for volleyball. I played club ball up through my junior year and served three years on my varsity high school team. Then, my senior year, I dropped volleyball for my life. Mary Ann salvaged me from the wreakage a year later and now I've found the perfect balance *cue the sigh of contentment.
#2 - What positions have you played and which one is your preference
I've played every position under the sun. I like all of them but probably do best as an OH.
#3 - have you been captain - when and how long?
This year I'm honored and excited to serve as one of the team captains!
#4 - vb awards and honors (all-league, mvp)
Oh no... I just don't remember those days anymore (Senior moment!) and would have to unearth my college appllications, let's just say I was on a few all-tournament teams.
#5 - Favorite kind of music?
I don't discriminate, depends on my mood. I'm just so complex.
#6 – Favorite Food?
This question gives me a slight anxiety attack.
#7 – Favorite Movie?
I'm just so bad at favorites. Indiana Jones is just a classic choice (not the new one, though, sorry Shia) and I don't know if I can choose anymore or I'll list a million. I will say this -- I could waste days away watching home videos.
#8 - If you were an animal, what would you be and why?
A skunk, don't ask questions.
#9 - What is your favorite quote?
"Live free, die hard." Kidding.
Jack Handy: "Somebody told me it was frightening how much topsoil we are losing each year, but I told that story around the campfire and nobody got scared.” Pretty much anyJack Handy quote...
Mary Baker Eddy: "What we most need is the prayer of fervent desire for growth in grace, expressed in patience, meekness, love, and good deeds."
#10 - What do you think you will be doing and where in 10 years?
Traveling the world with my soonish-to-be husband, Matt, writing stories or documentaries, toting around a toddler who smiles alot and sleeps through the night... another bun in the oven (disclaimer: I really don't like that expression), perhaps?
#11 - Nickname and reason?
Chingy because people say I look like the rapper.
#12 - what do you love best about the best sport in the world - VOLLEYBALL?
ONE: The constant action that keeps your attention whether you're on the court or in the stands.
TWO: You can play it your whole life.
THREE: It's great indoor or outdoor.
FOUR: It taught me how to fall and roll like a ninja so I don't hurt myself anymore.
FIVE: I mean, really, who doesn't love girls in spandex? Oh wait, that's not one of my reasons, I just hear it too much...
