Junior Year(2013)
Leif  is coming off a solid performance last season as he transitioned well into the defensive midfielder role.  He is a solid orchestrator of the game and has the right tools to be an even a more formidable presence at the heart of the Panthers midfield.  The rising Junior even showed some scoring touch early in the season coming up with what was undoubtedly the goal of the year when he picked up a bouncing loose ball from 30 yards out and ripped it into the net in a 4-2 loss to wheaton College.  Perhaps there is more to come ...stay tuned.

Sophomore Year (2012)
Carlson had a solid freshman year despite the tough start to his campaign.  By midseason he had made the adjustment and finished the year on a strong note personally.  He will be counted on this season to provide some leadership in the backline and help solidy the the back four.  He is  a mercurical vocal leader who should emerge to be one of the great ones that go through the program.  His versatility should also see him deputise in any of the back four spots and at holding mid.

Freshman Year (2011)

Leif has shown over the last couple of years that he was ready for the collegiate ranks.  He is one of the top newcomers and will undoubtedly be so in conference.  His composure and poise on the ball belie his age.  He will fight for an opening day starting spot at three of the back four defensive spots and at the holding midfield spot.  His range makes him multidimensional and we will certainly use him in a way that's beneficial to the group. 


Prep/Personal:
Leif comes to us following a stellar high school career at the Principia School where he garned two consecutive ALL ABC player honors and was named to the St. Louis All-State Metro team.  The towering defender is tenacious on the ball and has a great acumen in the game.  He played for the Scott Gallagher U-17's this past season and had another strong year helping lead his team to regionals.  His depth and maturity will be an asset to the group.
