Biography

Principia is fortunate to have Matt Jones back for his swansong season in goal. Matt began his goalkeeping education years ago at Principia and has made huge strides with each season. His strength in the air, shot-stopping abilities, and sheer athleticism should make clean sheets a real possibility for Principia this year.

(2014)
Jones returns to fulfill his desire to put the ball in the net.  After making the leap from a full time custodian a couple years ago, he is now poised to be an effective contributor in the attacking phase of the ball.  He will need to adapt his game to play centrally in attack so he can take full advantage of his superb timing and leaping ability to put a few away using his head. He featured last season in 15 games while starting nine of them and scored three goals. We look forward to another strong showing from this solid competitor where we trust he will obliterate these numbers.

Matt returns to the team this season to help solidify the goalkeeping needs while also showcasing his versatility as a field player and getting some minutes at the wing forward positions.  His raw athleticism will get him out of sticky situations, while his jumping ability makes him one of the top goalkeepers in the conference at picking off crosses. Keep an eye on Jones as he becomes a key lynchpin for this teams success down the road.
