Fall 2013 Women's Soccer Roster
Biography
Senior Year (2013)
A senior, we are very excited to see what this year unfolds for Hayley. Last year, it was fun to see her with such confidence and make outside midfield her own. As an outside midfielder, running up and down the field is no picnic but she does it with ease. Her speed has always been a great asset to the team but to watch her cut defenders off with her first touch and go to goal was truly exciting. We hope to see more this year! Her willingness and desire to improve makes her a pleasure to coach. She has a calm presence on the field and makes playing soccer look effortless. Her relatable demeanor enables her to connect well with teammates. We can’t wait to watch her fly down the sideline and finish her collegiate career with success.
Junior Year (2012)
Hayley Cooke, or “Cookie” is fast. Out wide she is able to beat most defenders with a penetrating first touch and her quick feet. For the past two seasons Cookie has been able to send crosses into the box to her teammates resulting in goal scoring opportunities. Not only to know these assists will continue, but we expect her to be the one scoring the goals as well as she pushes into a forward position and already she has had some very close chances. We know her impact will be substantial.
Sophomore Year (2011)
We heard Hayley was fast through recruiting information, however, when she showed up for sports camp we witnessed her speed for ourselves we knew exactly where she would fit into our lineup. As an outside midfielder, her quickness made her extremely dangerous to opponents. Her ability to outrun many defenders for the ball was always exciting to watch because the result was a breakway along the sideline, a crossed ball, and then finally, a goal. Now that she has had one year already under her bealt, we look forward to watch her become more creative this year as she continues to blow past defenders on the outside.
Freshman Year (2010)
Hayley comes from Glendora, California where she played three years of soccer on her high school team. As a freshman she received the award for most valuable offensive player on the fresh/soph team. When she made the junior varsity team her sophomore year she received the award for most valuable offensive player once again. Upon her junior year, Hayley earned her spot on the varsity squad. Due to an injury, however, she did not play her senior year. She did however, run track. As a result, her speed and quickness will be to the panthers' advantage on the offensive attack. She does a great job taking one touch and exploding into the open space, so defenders beware. We are excited to have Hayley on the squad and expect a lot of goals from her.
Prep/Personal
You know how people have different signature features. Like, Cindy Crawford’s is her beauty mark. Well, Hayley Cooke’s is the side ponytail. So when she is out on a hike exploring the uncharted treks of Elsah, her side ponytail will be there. If you are ever skiing down the snowy slopes and a side pony-tailed girl zooms past on a snowboard, that girl was Hayley. If you ever visit her in California and go to a crowded beach and lose your way, just look for the girl surfing the waves with her hair tied to the side. This girl loves the outdoors, being active and of course, her side ponytail.
