Senior Year (2016)
As center back, Rachel returns for her final season to cause more trouble for opposing attackers.  Last year, she earned second team SLIAC Second Team All-Conference which did not reflect her dominance as a defender.  Her speed is the best in the conference and the fact that she never tires makes it frustrating for opponents.  She was recognized by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and placed on the All Region, Second Team.  As a returning captain, we are excited to watch her continue to lead by example, creating a culture of hard work and resilience.         

Junior Year (2015)
Our fastest player on the team, Rachel continued to be a defensive force last year in the backline.  She chased down attackers that broke free from the defensive line, stopping many breakaway opportunities.  Lethal in the air, she was summoned to the frontline for our corners and set pieces on many occasions.  She anticipated the play well and is on the path of distinguishing herself as the best defender in conference.  

Sophomore Year (2014)
If you have ever seen a puppy dog relentlessly chase after a ball, then watching Rachel Perea play soccer will somehow look faintly familiar. Perea is relentless as a defender. She knows that ball is hers and will work until she’s won it. With her quick feet and agility, Perea’s bread and butter is stepping in front of forwards as they think they’re about to receive a pass. Only a sophomore, we are excited to see how Perea makes herself known as a defensive force this season within our conference and with surrounding teams.   

Freshman Year (2013)
Rachel, a freshman, comes to the team from the Principia Upper School. She played a major role in her team’s defense as starting center back. She helped take her team to the state championship game further than Principia Upper School had ever gone. Her fearless and all-out style of play, make her a terror for any attacker. Her athleticism is a gift both on defense and offense as well, as she goes in the attack during corner kicks. We look forward to all that Rachel will contribute during her first year on the team.

1.)  When did you start playing soccer and why?
I started playing soccer around the age of three, playing for a little league co-ed team with a bunch of my friends. Growing up, soccer was not something I was completely passionate about, so I never tried to push myself to become better, then ended up taking a year off going into my freshman year of high school. Taking that gap year made me realize how much I miss soccer so I decided to pick up soccer once more, my sophomore year, and have not looked back since. Moving to Missouri to attend the Principia Upper School made my love for sports, especially soccer grow unconditionally. Soccer has been an outlet for me to express the hunger and passion that I have for helping others in a competitive atmosphere, as well as leading a helping hand for my teammates to push pass limitations and grow in Christian Science.

2.)  What do you love most about playing soccer?
       Conquering any fatigue or adversity that comes your way. Growing and demonstrating Truth and Love every practice and every game. Soccer is more than a sport. As you get older you realize that the tools you learn by playing the beautiful game translates, not only on the soccer field, but in your everyday life.
