BLOOMINGTON, ILL. -- A 75th minute strike by
Daniel Otieno was the difference in the replay between the Panthers and the Titans of Illinois Wesleyan on a cool Thursday night. In a hotly contested match up, both teams played out an even half with the Titans missing on several half chances while,
Spencer Brown's one v one opportunity went by the wayside despite
McGuire Semnacher's put away from an off-side position. The score remained deadlocked at the half: nil-nil.
The Panther's persistence midway through the second half would pay off after
Abi Carper earned the visitors a corner kick.
Elliot Rybak's service to the back post seemed to miss everyone until the slender Otieno unleashed a towering thunderous volley just under the cross bar to secure the win for the Panthers. Otieno's first collegiate goal was one for the ages and let's hope there's more in the tank.
Samuel Thomas and his backline of
Paul Sanderude,
John Gotwals,
Garrett Bourcier,
Patrick Harber and
Will Bisbee managed to keep their second clean sheet. The match was a replay of the previously postponed match up which was abandoned in the 45th minute of play due to foul weather. The Panthers now put their three game winning streak on the line against MacMurray College in their second conference encounter on Saturday afternoon at 3:00 PM in Elsah, Ill.
