Principia women’s soccer falls to Washington University 4-0

ST. LOUIS, MO. -- Principia women's soccer falls to Washington University 4-0. The Panthers continued their series of road games tonight by traveling to St. Louis to play regional opponent WashU. The Panthers played a well fought physical first half connecting passes and getting into the attack with moments of brilliant one-two passes. Despite the attacking efforts of the Panthers, the Bears were the first to strike as midfielder Kate Doyle hit a shot that beat goalkeeper Mel Stein to the upper corner of the goal from 30 yards out.

In the second half the Panthers came out eager to equalize, but as they pushed forward WashU found opportunities to counter attack straining the Panther defense. A Bear's free kick from 35 yards out found the upper corner of the goal to put WashU up 2-0. As the Panthers pressed forward even more to make up for the two goal deficit, WashU was able to again find the back of the net two more times on counter attacks before the 90 minutes were up.

The Panthers start their conference play this weekend at 1:00 PM against MacMurray at home.
