Elsah, ILL. -- The Panthers were victorious in their rivalry matchup against Webster Gorloks. With an end score of 1-0, the Panthers came ready to play, out shooting the Gorloks 17-6.
The Panthers dominated the first half with their hard play and possession of the ball. The Gorloks crossed the midfield a few times only to be stopped by the Panther defense. The Panther midfield won every air ball putting it right back in the Gorlok's defensive third. In the 16th minute of the game, the ball was crossed into the box by
Carlie Sanderude and found
Kristen Crandall's leg for the goal. For the remainder of the half, the Panthers attacked the Gorlok goal creating many opportunities to score. Nonetheless, the score remained 1-0 by halftime. In the beginning of the second half, the Gorloks brought a little bit more intensity putting the Panthers under a lot of pressure. However, their attack was stifled by the Panther defense once again. It was a hard fought battle by both teams. In the end, the Panthers came away with the win and now hold an overall record of 10-4 and 6-0 in conference.
The lunch pail was awarded to
Hayley MacWilliams for her aggressive play. The lunch pail award was also awarded to
Kristen Crandall for her hard work. Crandall was also awarded the golden boot award for scoring the only goal.
The Panthers play again this Tuesday evening against Blackburn College at home at 5:00 PM.
