Tonight Principia nabbed another win as they battled Fontebonne to four games. Fontbonne's persistent defense gave Principia a tough match as they picked up hard hits and forced Principia hitters to find holes. In the end, Principia won because they were able to serve in, keep the ball flying, and hit smart. Principia's auxiliary hitters carried the team when the team needed to stay error free.
Catherine Speer played solid as she put down five kills with no errors and
Christine Nacewicz contributed 12 kills with only three errors. Once all hitters found Fontbonne's holes, they were able to take advantage. Serving also helped the lady panthers.
Ally Read,
Tara Edwards, and
Natalie Davenport served 100%, and each had an ace. The end scores were 25-23, 22-25, 26-24, and 25-22.
Tara Edwards performed top-notch with her continuous hustle, communication, and bold serving. She also earned six points with her sneaky setter kills. At the end of the fourth game, when Principia was down 20-22, Edwards kept the serve until the end as Principia fought for the last points. After the game, several teammates voiced their gratitude for Edwards focus and teamwork throughout the entire match.
Principia looks forward to continuing their winning streak this homecoming weekend against Spalding and Eureka at 11:00am and 1:30pm on Saturday at home.
