Elash, ILL. -- The Panthers were victorious in their homecoming match up against Spalding University. In the eighth minute of the game, the Panthers started the scoring with a head goal by
Hayley MacWilliams after it was crossed by
Hanna Mehring. Six minutes later the Panthers capitalized on another head goal by
Hayley Cooke which was assisted by
Alicia Girbes-Pierce. The Panther's third goal was created by Girbes-Pierce who ran the ball down to the end line for a cross but was deflected off of one of the Spalding defenders resulting in a goal.
Lauren Furbush finished the scoring in the first half with a beautiful shot outside the 18 yard box to give the Panthers a 4-0 lead at halftime.
In the second half, the Panthers did a nice job keeping possession and moving the ball around the field. The fifth goal was scored by MacWilliams who took a 35 yard shot after receiving a pass from
Kristen Crandall. The Panther's final goal was scored by Crandall who ripped it one time into the back of the net after getting a pass from
Rachel Publicover. The Panthers now hold a record of 8-4.
The Panthers play again this Tuesday evening against Fontbonne University away at 6:00 PM.
