Zimmerman's Career-High 31 points not enough in 93-69 Loss to Webster

(Feb. 16, 2010) Webster Groves, MO - Principia College came into tonight's game hoping to be a spoiler for Webster University who is fighting for the last conference playoff spot.  But Webster got one step closer to that last playoff berth on their senior night with a 93-67 victory.

The Panthers played a tough first half that ended on a half court shot by junior captain Todd Zimmerman making it 44-32 at the intermission.  Prin kept the margin around the 10 to 14 point deficit for most of the second half unti Webster made its final push.  Webster, the toughest defensive team in the SLIAC, sparked on offense tonight as well, shooting 55.4% from the field.  They had four players in double figures, Scott Restoff, Drew Moore, Cory Bradfisch, and Brad Cookson scored 18, 16, 14 and 10 points respectively.

The Panthers, who shot 48%, were led by Zimmerman's career-high 31 points, 4 assists and 6 rebounds.  Zimmerman's previous career-high was 29 points just last Saturday against Greenville when he scored his 1000th college career point.  Seniors Sam Douglas and Stuart Waller added 11 and 10 points.  Freshman Stanley Beal knocked down 8 points.

Prin was outrebounded 41-28.

Next for the Panthers - Senior Day against Fontbonne University at home in Elsah, IL.  Seniors #Isaac Swiderski, Douglas and Waller will be honored.  Principia hopes to sweep Fontbonne for the first time in decades.  Prin defeated Fontbonne earlier this year at Fontbonne, 74-70, for the first time at Fontbonne in 19 years.  Tip off is at 3pm.
