PC Women's Soccer scores first victory against Rose-Hulman

TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Principia Women's soccer traveled to Terre Haute, IN to play Rose-Hulman and came away with a 5-1 victory. Goals were scored by Alicia Girbes-Pierce (2), Hanna Mehring, and Rachel Publicover. The first goal came six minutes into the contest from a Mehring through ball that Girbes-Pierce toe poked past the keeper. The second goal came in the 30th minute as Girbes-Pierce found Publicover with a cross. Three minutes later Mehring capped off the half with a free kick that found the upper ninety. The Panther's good fortune continued in the second half as an errand touch from a Rose-Hulman defender resulted in an own goal. The scoring concluded for Principia in the 75th minute, as Publicover found Girbes-Pierce on a cross to the near post. The Engineers closed out the scoring in the final minute of the game to keep from being shutout.

The Panthers saw much improved play from a number of players including an outstanding game by left back Cristina Post and the rest of the defense. Freshman Sierra Powell made her colligate debut as well.

The road trip continues this weekend as the Panthers travel to Chicago, Ill. to play Elmhurst on Friday at 4:00 pm and North Park on Saturday at 2:00 pm. The team will be visiting the Shedd Aquarium on Friday morning if anyone would like to join us!
