UPDATED WITH LOCAL NEWS COVERAGE: Principia faces tough challange against NAIA powerhouse Concordia University

IRVINE, CALIF. -- Though the team suffered a tough loss today on the road, there were definitely some positive aspects that the large turnout of Principia alumni and friends in the crowd could cheer about. The team displayed excellent defense. Senior captain Spencer Brown was back in action for the Panthers at shortstop. Spencer made 5 or 6 stellar plays in the field and looked like he had not missed a beat on defense. Freshman Spencer Clevenger made a “sportscenter” play at thirdbase, diving down the line to rob Concordia of a two-bagger.

Offensively, the team faced some very good pitchers and swung the bats fairly well, but they were just not able to string together consecutive hits in the clutch. # Matt Bowman had a rocket double and Kit Banko# contributed two of the team's five hits.

The team plays again tomorrow against La Sierra at 4:00 in Riverside, Calif.
