ELSAH, ILL. -- After coming on strong with two conference wins earlier this week, the Panthers faced Illinois Wesleyan tonight from the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin. As a team, the Panthers couldn't hold off the attack of the Illinois Wesleyan Titans and ended up losing 3-6.
The ladies had a well played #1 doubles match.
Sarah Corbitt and
Carlie Sanderude are proving they can compete in both conference and non conference matches, beating their opponents 8-3. This dynamic duo is making waves as they carry on a six match winning streak for #1 doubles. Sanderude is contributing significantly to this team, also playing #1 singles. Her composure on the court, amazing work ethic, and aggressive ground strokes showed in her 6-2, 6-0 win over the Illinois Wesleyan opponent. She will be a fun player to watch as the season progresses and as she continues her winning streak.
Another highlight of the evening was the third match win, #3 singles,
Hilary Frandsen. Frandsen lost the first set 2-6 but did not let up mentally and fought back to win the second set 7-5. In an exciting ten point tiebreaker, Frandsen played gritty tennis, holding off her opponent's match point to win 12-10.
The Lady Panthers had a tough week with three matches but came out two and one. Next week in conference play, the Panthers will compete against tough opponents Greenville and Westminster. The Greenville match is at home on April 5th at 4:30 PM.
