Women's tennis dominates Webster 7-2 in one of the last conference matches of the season

ELSAH, ILL. -- Today Principia women's tennis faced one of their tougher SLIAC opponents, the Webster University Gorlocks. As Webster won the SLIAC tournament last year, the rivalry between Principia and Webster is intense. The Gorlocks came in with a new line up after having lost their matches to Principia in the finals of the SLIAC individual tournament. Yet the Lady Panthers are unflappable, dominating Webster 7-2.
Principia's unbeatable #1 doubles team
Sarah Corbitt and
Carlie Sanderude dominated 8-1 today, with strong offensive play and volleys. At #3 doubles
Marianna Hronek and
Jasmine Carcieri also pulled out a victory 8-5.
Freshman,
Hilary Frandsen at #3 pulled out a courageous win and gave the team the fifth point to ensure a victory. Frandsen is improving so much in her ability to compete and finish off her opponent 6-1, 2-6, 6-4.
Marianna Hronek #4 singles won a convincing match with strong baseline play. Hronek has contributed all season as a steady player, consistent and willing to play each match until the win.
Courtney Banko won at #5 singles ending the conference match winning streak of Kate Coen 6-1, 6-2.
The Lady Panthers play their last conference match before the SLIAC team championships this Tuesday against Fontbonne University away at 6:30 PM. Principia women's tennis will remain undefeated in conference if they beat Fontbonne. Match scores below.
