Big bats of Bowman and Cheatham lift team to record setting 20th victory with a 7-3 final score

FULTON, MO. -- The PC Baseball Team capped a stellar season with a come-from-behind win on the road against Westminster College. Early on in the contest, the bats were nowhere to be found, as the team was being shut out through five complete innings. However, in the top of the sixth, senior captain Spencer Brown rallied the troops and sparked the team to life. The team put up two runs in the sixth to bring the team within one run.

The stage was now set for an epic seventh inning. Senior Ronnie Meyer singled and then was advanced to second base by Justin MacDonald. With two outs and trailing by a run, senior captain Matt Bowman strode to the plate and smashed a rocket homerun to left field that still hasn't landed to take the lead. Spencer Brown then dropped down a perfect drag bunt. Alan Cheatham then followed Bowman's lead by crushing another 2-run homerun to put the team up 6-3. The seventh run came on a sacrifice fly by freshman Kit Banko in the top of the ninth.

Junior captain Greg Ball started on the mound and pitched another terrific game. Greg went seven strong innings and picked up his eighth victory of the season to add to his record of career wins (19) in only three seasons.

Luke Ball then came in relief and shut the door on Westminster for good. In his two innings of work, Luke struck out two batters and carved up the Westminster hitters for his third save of the year.

The team's 20 wins is a new record, since entering the SLIAC in 1990 and ties the total wins record set back in 1986. The team also won 12 games in conference, which is also a school record.
