Box Score Tonight, under the lights, the Panthers hosted Spalding University. It was also Principia's Senior Night. The game began and within 3 minutes
Nadine Marczi had scored the first goal for the Panthers off a cross from
Kristen Crandall. Next came a goal by
Brie Mayer after a pass from
Cristina Post, then two more goals by
Kenzie Keller, and finally a fifth goal by
Hayley Cooke making the score at half time 5-0. The Panthers held possession of the ball, attacked down the sidelines utilizing their speed on the flanks, and were able to ping the ball around the back to help switch the point of attack. Senior,
Katie Clark did a great job defending the goal, and shutting out Spalding for the first half.
At half time Principia honored their 7 seven seniors,
Katie Clark,
Brie Mayer,
Kelly DeWindt,
Kristen Crandall,
Julianna Mangelsdorf,
Cristina Post, and
Rachel Publicover, for all their hard work and commitment to the Principia women's soccer program. After some nice words, flowers and a few tears, the women took the field again to finish the game.
Rachel Publicover started the scoring in the second half off an assist by Marczi. Cooke scored her second goal of the night from a pass by Keller, and
Justine Roy capped the scoring off with a beautiful right-footed shot on top of the 18, her signature shot, assist by DeWindt. Sanna Ahman was Principia goalie second half and made a very impressive save at one point in the game continuing the shut out from the first half.
It was too cold at the end of the game to give out team awards, so instead the Panthers enjoyed some sweets provided by their lovely fans and headed indoors. The Panthers have now entered into their post season and will face Greenville Wednesday at 4:30 at home. If they win the semi-final game the final game will be Friday at 7:00 at Principia.
