CARLINVILLE, ILL. --The Principia Women's Tennis Team travelled to Carlinville, Illinois to compete against conference rival Blackburn College. The Gold and Blue improved their record to 5-0 with a decisive 9-0 win. After sweeping the doubles matches the women only gave up eight games in the singles competition.
Freshman,
Fiona Ouma joined the line-up at #6 singles and defeated her opponent without losing a game.
Courtney Banko playing #5 singles didn't lose a game either. Both players served well and played consistently.
Kelly Adams playing #1 singles used a variety of slices, chips, and lobs to keep her opponent off balance. When her opponent came into net Adams was accurate with her strong passing shots.
Marianna Hronek used her forceful backhand to disrupt her opponents play. There were several long points in this #3 singles match, and Hronek was on the winning side on most of these points.
Haillie Stock playing at #4 singles used her strong volley to close out her opponent. Freshman,
Kelsy Brawn playing #7 singles played two exhibition singles matches against the Blackburn #7 and #8 singles players.
The final conference match is this Saturday at 2:00PM away at Webster. Both Webster and Principia are undefeated in conference play and the match will determine who is seeded first in the conference tournament.
