Rainy start for softball's day in Myrtle Beach

Box Score MYRTLE BEACH – DAY 2

Arcadia University - 4     Principia – 1

The morning game against Cairn University was rained out and will be made up tomorrow.

After hanging around the hotel for several hours waiting to hear what was going to happen the team decided to head out for some social time.  Five minutes after leaving they were called back as organizers felt the fields would soon be playable and that Principia's game against Arcadia would start in a little over an hour!

The team got into their uniforms, headed to the park, put in an abbreviated warm up and were ready to play.  What a difference a day makes!  Yesterday Arcadia mercy ruled Principia 12-0 in five innings. Today they went toe to toe with Arcadia and had multiple chances to put runs up on the board.  The team had runners in scoring position in 4 innings and had runners at 3rd in 3 innings.  Unfortunately the key hit the team needed only showed up once to score their only run but they put themselves in a position to take the lead several times in this game.

Their overall defense was much sharper and Casey Lee went the distance and threw a real solid game.  You could see the difference in their confidence and certainly their expectations were higher.  We will expect the progress to continue.

The offensive player of the game was Thanda Kyaw as she was 3 for 3 and had a walk.  Both Devon Harrison and Christine Nacewicz had a hit and Jocelyn Shoemake found herself on base twice after a walk and being hit by a pitch.
