Panthers dominate at home

Panthers dominate at home

ELSAH, ILL
Principia – 11          St. Louis College of Pharmacy – 0

This was a great day at the office for the team.  One of the things they have been working on is their mental approach to games.  They want to be much more aggressive right from the start and play consistently for the whole game.  Mission accomplished!  They scored 2 runs in the 1st, 2 more in the 2nd and then put the game away with 7 runs in the 3rd for a mercy rule in the 5th.
All three major facets of the game were working in this one, offense, defense and pitching.  They adjusted well at the plate and hit the ball often and hit it hard.
Marianna Distel, Tori Cheatham and Christine Nacewicz all had a hit and Tori had an RBI.  Tori and Christine each scored a run and Marianna scored 2.  Casey Lee, Thanda Kyaw and Kelsey Whitney all had 2 hits.  Casey and Kelsey both hit a double and Thanda hit a triple.  All three of them contributed runs and RBI's.

As part of their desire to play with more consistency, prior to the start of game 2 of this double header the team wanted to make sure they took nothing for granted.  They wanted to pick up right where they left off in game 1 and they did.  They came out and put up 10 runs in the 1st inning, 3 more in the 2nd and one more in the 3rd to cap off another mercy rule game.
Much like game 1 they played really well on offense, defense and the pitching was solid again.  Devon Harrison pitched both game 1 and 2 and never let SLCOP get anything going.  She hit her spots, had good movement on the ball and changed speeds really well on a very cold night.  Tonight's double header was a great confidence booster for this team who has shown signs of being able to play well but inconsistency has been a big challenge.  They certainly handled that well in these 2 games.
The offense was really spread out in game 2 which was good to see as a few team members had been struggling at the plate.  8 out of the 9 starters got at least 1 hit.
Thanda Kyaw, Devon Harrison, Jocelyn Shoemake, Marianna Distel, Tori Cheatham and Tess Schloemer all got a hit in this game.  Kelsey Whitney got 2 hits and Casey Lee had a big game with 3 hits, 2 runs scored and 2 RBI's.  Jocelyn had 4 RBI's and Marianna had 3 RBI's.  All 9 batters scored at least 1 run in game 2.
