Box Score 1 |
Box Score 2 Elsah, Illinois
Eureka - 8 Principia – 0
This may sound familiar but it's true, the score doesn't reflect how well the team played. They were in this one but similar to other games their inconsistent defense and lack of timely offense did them in. This game was close but eventually several defensive errors let the score get away from them. Offensively they were finding ways to get on base against a very good pitcher but left runners in scoring position in 3 out of the 5 innings.
This may have been the best pitcher the team has played against this year and she overpowered a number of hitters. A few were able to handle her and were getting on base either by hits, walks or being hit by a pitch but as was mentioned they were left stranded.
Only
Thanda Kyaw and
Christine Nacewicz solved this pitcher with Thanda getting 2 hits and 2 stolen bases. Christine went 1 for 2.
Eureka – 10 Principia – 1
Game 2 was very similar to game 1. The team hung in there, battled hard but eventually let the game get away. Their inconsistent defense puts a lot of pressure on the pitching and if this team wants to win a few more games they are going to have to solve their penchant for making errors and start scoring runners that are in scoring position.
Like game 1, the bottom of the order really struggled at the plate. The team only came up with 5 hits and it is hard to win games when there aren't many hits and they are not being spread throughout the lineup.
Devon Harrison went 2 for 3 in this game and got the only RBI.
Thanda Kyaw,
Christine Nacewicz and
Tori Cheatham each got a hit and Christine's was a triple in the left center gap.
