Women's Basketball Falls to Webster University

Box Score

ST. LOUIS, MO. -- The Principia Panther women's basketball team traveled to St. Louis to face the Webster University Gorloks today. Buoyed by a strong Prin crowd, the Panthers played some tenacious basketball in the first half. Although their shots were not falling, the Panthers played some excellent defense and were able to keep the game close despite their shooting woes.

In the first half, the Panthers forced the Gorloks into an abundance of errors, eventually ending the half with 10 steals. Principia ended the half down 23-16, but were squarely in the game.

For the first five minutes of the second half, it looked as though the Panthers would be able to capitalize on Webster's inefficiencies on the offensive end. However, they were unable to muster much offense of their own, and were eventually worn down by a deep Webster team.

Some inspiring performances were turned in by Rachel Perea, Spencer Randolph, and Tory Silver. Perea was excellent on the boards, finishing with 10 rebounds, 8 points, and 5 steals. Randolph hit 3-4 three point shots, finishing with 12 points. Tory Silver came in and immediately provided a spark for the Panthers, as she hit her first and only shot of the game.

The Panthers again have a quick turn around and face Eureka College. After a long streak of road games, the Panthers will finally be playing back at home. They look forward to having an even bigger crowd supporting them this Saturday at 1pm.
