FULTON, MO. -- After having their first Tuesday off in quite sometime, a well rested Principia women's basketball team traveled to Fulton, Missouri to take on the Westminster Blue Jays.
After falling quickly behind 8-0, the Panthers went on a run that saw them cut the lead to three at 12-9 and then 14-11. The Panthers had a renewed focus in the second half. Running their offense crisply, and playing solid defense, Principia held the Blue Jays to 2 points for the first five and a half minutes of the second half. Unfortunately, despite good looks, were only able to score 4 points during this time.
The rest of the half was played evenly, as the Panthers never gave up. Although they lost 58-37, some remarkable efforts were turned in by Summer Switzer and Izzy Perea. Switzer played aggressively all night and finished with a game high 16 points as well as a game high 8 rebounds. Perea played great interior defense all night off the bench, often shutting her opponent down. She had an inspiring 6 rebounds off the bench.
