Principia Panthers Finish the Season with a Heartbreaker to Greenville College

Box Score On Tuesday night the Principia Panthers traveled to Greenville College for their last conference game of the season. Although they led most of the evening, Greenville tied the game at 86 all with 1:15 left in the game. When Greenville scored next and the Panthers were unable to answer, GC was able to close out the game from the free throw line. With Greenville up 88 to 86, Principia called a timeout to set up a play. Senior captain, Kenny Sydness was to take the shot off a screen from point guard Larry Patterson. The play worked to perfection and Sydness got all the way to the rim for a lay-up. The ball paused on the rim and rolled out as a high flying Greenville player snatched it from the rim to deny the basket. Greenville was then able to close out the game from the line for a 91 -86 victory. Both teams played well and shared congratulations after the game. Anoher season has come to an end. Principia was led by senior guard, Matt Jones who had 25 points, having hit 7 of 9 three point attempts on the night. Kenny Sydness had 24 on 10 for 17 shooting. Newcomers to the SLIAC, Justin Ball and Sawyer Grow both had 10 points for the Panthers. So long Principia seniors. We will miss you.
