Panthers rally past Fontbonne Griffins 11-8 in rain shortened game

Senior Luke Ball got the start for the Panthers and pitched a solid game earning the victory. After giving up three early runs Luke settled in and pitched three scoreless innings. The Panthers chipped away scoring one run in the second, one run in the fourth, and then took the lead with a two run 5th inning. The Griffins answered back with three runs in the 6th inning to retake the lead 6-4. The Panthers exploded for 7 runs in the bottom of the sixth to regain the lead 11-6. Bryce Murray got the inning started with a walk and then Hunter Mehring and Logan McDowell each reached on errors.  With one out Ed Bargmann singled in the first run. Christian Thomas grounded out driving in the second run of the inning. Gavin Thomas hit an RBI double. Spencer Clevenger was hit by a pitch and Scott Ross singled to load the bases. Freshman Bryce Murray singled in two runs and then Logan McDowell reach on an error again scoring the final run of the inning.

Heading into the 7th inning the Panthers led 11-6 and junior Gavin Thomas came in relief of Luke Ball. Gavin pitched one inning of relief and was able to work out of trouble in the 7th. The Griffins answered with two runs to cut the lead to 11-8. The Panthers got the leadoff hitter Ed Bargmann on and then the game was called due to rain. Offensively, the Panthers were led by freshman Bryce Murray who finished 3 for 3 with 2 RBI's, Gavin Thomas who finish 2 for 4 with 2 doubles and two RBI's, freshman Ed Bargmann who finished 2 for 5 with an RBI, senior Spencer Clevenger who finish 2 for 2 with 2 stolen bases, and freshman Logan McDowell who finished with 3 RBI's. Scott Ross, Hunter Mehring, and Connor Coyne each finished with one hit.
