The Panthers overcame a slow start scoring 11 runs in the 8
th inning to defeat Lincoln Christian Red Lions 14-4. The Panthers trailed 4-3 entering the 8
th inning, but mounted a comeback.
Christian Thomas leadoff the inning with a base hit and then stole second base.
Bryce Murray reached on a bunt single and then Luke Ball was hit with a pitch to load the bases.
Ed Bargmann doubled in two runs. The Panthers scored their third run on a pass ball. With one out
Gavin Thomas singled in a run and then
Hunter Mehring got hit by a pitch.
Scott Ross singled in two runs.
Christian Thomas followed with a walk,
Bryce Murray was hit by a pitch, and then Luke Ball singled in two runs.
Ed Bargmann had his second hit of the inning as he singled in another run. The Panthers scored their next run on a bases loaded walk to
Spencer Clevenger, and then
Ed Bargmann scored on a passed ball to end the game.
Junior
Gavin Thomas threw a complete game going 8 innings, scattering 8 hits, allowing 3 earned runs, and struck out 10. After the fourth inning Gavin settled in keeping the Red Lions scoreless the final three innings of the game and pitching out of a bases loaded jam. Gavin earned his first pitching victory of the season.
Offensively, the Panthers had multiple players with multiple hits.
Ed Bargmann finished 3 for 6 with 3 RBI's and a stolen base.
