Spalding Snatches a 3-2 victory from Principia Volleyball

Box Score Louisville, KY. -- This match started out like the Panthers were still on the bus. Spalding was pounding balls and Prin couldn't get any traction at all. Spalding controlled every aspect of game one winning with ease. Game two was pivotal. It didn't start out any better than game one with Prin down 3-15. Things started to turn for the better when Emily Tippetts came into the front row and Emma Herman stepped to the service line at 5-16. Emily was an animal at the net continually rejecting Spalding hits, and Emma was consistent on the service line, and Prin patiently closed the gap to 13-16! The Panthers hit another snag going down 15-19, and then Emily rotated to serve and we closed the gap and grabbed a foothold 22-20. Principia held on to the lead this time with a 25-21 victory. Game three was topsy turvy – with both teams battling hard, but Spalding came out on top 26-24. Game four  Prin was able to gain a nice lead, but unable to hold onto it, squeaking out a 25-22 win. Over two hours of volleyball came down to a a 2 point contest in the 5th game. 2-6, 8-8, 12-8, 14-12, and 14-16. Spalding took this win right out of the Panther's paws. It hurt, and I'm sure this will fuel the team to get back to being dauntless competitors!

Emily posted 5 solo blocks and 4 block assists, along with 8 kills! The Panthers kept up the good work, with 95% team serving and 8 aces - Molly Moser, Emily, and Emma with two apiece and Sierra and Sophia each with one.  The Panther attack was led by Sophia with 13 kills, Lily Richards with 10, and Sierra and Emily contributing 8 each.

The Panthers will be up and at it playing Greenville at 11am tomorrow and then Iowa Wesleyan at 1pm.
