Volleyball takes MacMurray in three straight sets

Box Score Jacksonville, ILL. -- Aggressive tough serving, hard-working backcourt defense, a solid blocking presence and diverse offense were the key to a 3 set victory over MacMurray. It was a nice team effort, and even though the execution sputtered here and there – the Panthers got it done as a group!

Nikki Matters put together four serving runs, Mia Gill had two, and Devon Marunde and Cha Cha Fisher each had one – this tough serving set the stage for pulling ahead of the Highlanders. The defense was effective behind the tough serving making it hard for Mac to put the ball to the ground. This forced too many offensive errors (20%) for Mac to get the traction they needed, and Principia did a great job keeping their offensive errors to 9% as a team! Principia served up 8 aces compared to Mac's 3, and Principia out-blocked Mac 6-0.

Sophia led the offense hitting .472 and Noelle Shoemake was close behind hitting .417. Rachel Proctor hit .375 and posted 4 block assists for the outing. This brings the Panthers to 13-9, and they will welcome Iowa Wesleyan to Hay Fieldhouse for a Homecoming matchup Saturday at 11am!
