Men's Soccer falls to Fontbonne in final game of the season

Box Score St. Louis, MO. --   Principia Men's Soccer drops final game of the season to Fontbonne Univeristy 4-1.

Principia dominated play for the first 20 minutes of the game.  However, midway through the half Fontbonne scored off of a long throw in that the Principia mismanaged.  The second goal was a PK that keeper Ian Carlson almost saved.  In the waning minutes of the half Principia conceded the third goal.  After the half Principia came out firing and found the back of the net owning the momentum of the game up until a long shot from Fontbonne took an awkward bounce that slipped by Carlson.

Coach Jess Semnacher was disappointed with the loss, saying, "Conceding a goal in college soccer is a big deal. We were playing really well, but I think the first goal being a fluke really weighed heavy on the guys. Yet despite the scoreline, we had plenty of opportunities today to win the game. We just need to finish and find ways to put teams away.  I am proud though despite the setbacks that the team kept fighting".

The win for Fontbonne University places them firmly in 3rd place in the SLIAC.  Fontbonne will play Westminster for the SLIAC semi-final next week.
