Box Score Elsah, IL-- In a gritty and intense conference matchup at Principia, the men's soccer team fell 2-3 to Spaulding.
The first half lent itself to quality play, disciplined defense and two solid goals off of headers. Nick Klusmeyer found the back of the net off of a set piece put in beautifully by Briggs Hurley. Unfortunately, just moments later Principia gave up a goal on the backside. Principia fought back to find the back of the net off of another amazing cross from Akimie Ogilvie to Gabriel Theodoro.
However, the second half seemed to be a different story. With Spaulding down 2-1, they applied a higher sense of pressure and Principia did not step up as needed. The half, although not lacking opportunities, ended with the concession of two goals putting Spaulding on top 3-2.

Ian Carlson again had an amazing game with huge saves to keep the Panthers in it. The score does not indicate the play of Carlson.
Saturday, Principia travels to Iowa Wesleyan for another conference match.
