Thousand Oaks, CA— In the second match of the women' spring break tennis trip,
Anh Vu makes a statement and pulls past her opponent in a tight three set match. Anh lost the first set in a tight tie-breaker, 8-6. In the first set, her opponent pushed her far back behind the baseline and Anh had a difficult time getting her own shots deep. In the second set, Anh fell behind 4-1 but then played a strategic game that she executed well. She started to play the deep balls on the rise and did not let them push her around. She also drew her opponent into net with deft drop shots. It was an exciting match to watch. She pulled the second set into a tie-breaker and evened the score at a set a piece. The third set super tie-breaker was close and saw some of the best tennis by each of the players.
Paige Cooley had a tough match today and fell behind 4-2 in the first set but was then able to even the score. After Paige pulled ahead 6-5 her opponent retired because of an injury.
Besides the two match wins at #1 singles and #5 singles, the rest of the team struggled and were not able to score many games.
